Open Family Australia is a registered and tax deductible charity that has been working with children and young people �on-the-street� for over 20 years.

Open Family's services are tailored to meet individual needs and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Open Family estimates that there are up to 15,000 street children in Australia. Open Family especially assists street children aged less than 18 years, who are alienated and excluded, with complex problems.

The Open Family street-outreach worker makes contact with alienated youth by physically being there �on the streets�. Through developing trust and street credibility, the young person feels confident to seek the help of the street-outreach worker. They can then use this trust and support as a catalyst to change their life direction.

At this point, the street worker helps youth tap into other mainstream support services and programs that are available in the local area. When such programs do not exist Open Family often facilitates their establishment.

Open Family currently has operations in:

� Melbourne (CBD; western suburbs; south-eastern suburbs)
� Sydney (Cabramatta, Fairfield, Liverpool, Bankstown)
� Canberra
� Albury-Wodonga; Wangaratta, Benalla, Shepparton and Seymour.
