SIDSaustralia

SIDSaustralia is the national secretariat for the Australian SIDS organisation and, among other functions, coordinates the national Red Nose Day fundraising campaign.

Money raised during Red Nose Day is directed to: the Reducing the Risk of SIDS public health education programme; ongoing grief and bereavement counselling services for families who have suffered the tragedy of sudden and unexpected death of a child (six years and under); free-of-charge publications for the general public, schools, health professionals and childcare workers; the Australian SIDS Online Catalogue (ASOC); medical research and SIDS Australia Online (http://www.sidsaustralia.org.au).

The national Reducing the Risk of SIDS programme has been one of the most successful public health programmes run in recent years. Since it's inception in 1991, it has effectively reduced the SIDS rate by more than 65%.

The Reducing the Risk pamphlets are distributed, Australia-wide, to all GPs, maternity hospitals and childcare centres. Upon request,at a State/Territory office, publications are also available to the general public.

There are nine State/Territory member organisations which bring their services to community at large. The offices are situated in Adelaide, Brisbane, Burnie, Canberra, Darwin, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

We are currently unable to accept online donations. However, donation forms for individual State/Territory offices can be found on www.sidsaustralia.org.au
