Bone Marrow Donor Institute Inc.
The Bone Marrow Donor Institute Inc is a registered charity that recruits potential donors to the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Register to offer hope and a second chance of life to people with leukaemia or other serious blood disorders. The BMDI is also establishing a Cord Blood Bank, a bank of umbilical cords which can be used instead of bone marrow for transplantation. The BMDI also funds research into gene therapy, breast cancer, leukaemia, thalassamia, and improving treatments for cancer. The BMDI is also establishing an Accommodation Centre for patients and their families whilst patients undergoe treatment for cancer.
