Centre for Eye Research Australia
The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) exists to raise funds for research into reducing the prevalence of blindness, vision impairment and eye disease in Australia.
Research to date has identified the social and economic impacts of blindness and the much larger problem of eye disease in the community. It is known that given the current conditions the number of Australians who will lose vision and need eye care will more than double by the year 2020.
75% of poor vision is due to just 5 conditions - under-corrected refractive error, cataract, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration. The Centre for Eye Research Australia has specialist units of medical researchers working to implement current cures or find means of preventing the disease. Our researchers need funds to continue their crucial research.
