Motor Neurone Disease Association of New South Wales Inc.
Motor Neurone Disease Association of NSW (MNDA).
The MNDA is a registered charity and support organisation which, through specialised services, has worked with people with all types of motor neurone disease (MND), their families and carers throughout NSW since 1981.
MND is the name given to a group of disease in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move around, speak, breathe and swallow fail to work normally.
With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste.
Average life expectancy is two to three years after diagnosis.
