Save Our Century Fund
Save Our Century Fund
The Save Our Century Fund was launched by the Western Australian State Library Custodians in November 1998 to ensure our documentary heritage is preserved for future generations.
Monies raised through the Fund are used for the collection, preservation and provision of access to heritage information materials of the twentieth century. The Custodians are helped by major partners Channel 9 - Perth, Western Australian Newspapers Ltd. and Commonwealth Bank and have been successful in attracting support from corporate entities and from individuals.
Campaigns run through the Save Our Century Fund
* Adopt-a-Soldier
The J S Battye Library of West Australian History holds a large collection of glass negatives of men who enlisted in WWI. Members of the public have been invited to adopt one of the soldiers included and make a donation towards the preservation of the collection. A list of soldiers is available on request.
* Save-a-Film
A short list of unique Western Australian film titles has been prepared. For each title the only known copy is in the Battye Library. Costs of preserving each film have been determined and supporters are invited to "save" a film that interests them.
