SPELD Qld Inc. is an organisation which supports families affected by specific learning disabilities. These disabilites are also known as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysphasia and dyscalculia. they may result in the affected child, although of average or above intelligence, being unable to learn to read, write spell or calculate. The affect on the children and their families is dramatic and childhood depression is a common result. Specific learning disabilities cannot be cured but they can be managed by early intervention and appropriate support.
