Neurosurgical Research Foundation
Neurosurgical Research Foundation provides funding for research to promote a greater understanding of the brain and nervous system, their diseases and effects on them of injury; so that the best possible treatment can be given.
Vital funding is provided by the Foundation each year for research projects undertaken in Australian Universities and teaching hospitals.
Areas covered includes head and spinal injuries, brain tumours, stroke and brain haemorrhage, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, Alzheimers disease, Sciatica and Trigeminal Neuralgia.
The Foundation also funds Australia's first Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Adelaide. The work undertaken under the auspices of the Chair of Neurosurgery has won numerous awards at local and international levels.
The contribution of research workers has been great...but, unless new funds are generated, valuable work and personnel will be lost to the community.
