Lifeline is an essential service with a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention which includes the national 24 hour telephone counselling service 13 11 14. Around Australia there are 42 Lifeline Centres, half of which are in rural or isolated communities.



Each centre delivers a range of services based on the needs of their local community. We are constantly there to assist others with difficulties like depression, anxiety and hopelessness which too often can result in relationship breakdown, drug & alcohol abuse, financial problems and sometimes suicidal behavior.



We believe that every person has the right to be heard and understood with compassion and to receive competent care in times of need. So on any day, at any time, for anyone, we make sure that there are between 40 -60 volunteer telephone counsellors available 24 hours a day, for the cost of a local call.



To provide our volunteers with the ongoing training, resources and infrastructure needed costs. Lifeline provides all this and more for $40 per hour, 80% of this we need to raise. For every $100 we receive, six calls are taken. One out of every 10 of these callers will be at risk of suicide � it is essential that we are there for them.
