Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Medical Service
Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Services was established in 1998 as a primary health care service initiated and managed by the local Aboriginal community to provide a culturally safe holistic health service to the Aboriginal people of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding areas in New South Wales.
Winnunga Nimmityyjah has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as a Public Benevolent Institution and as an income exempt charitable entity.
Further, the ATO has given Winnunga Nimmityjah endorsement as a deductible gift recipient which means that our name is on the public register maintained by the Australian Business Registrar. The website of the Australian Business Registrar can be found at www.abr.business.gov.au. This means that donations to Winnunga Nimmityjah would be seen as a tax deduction for the Donor by the Australian Taxation Office.
Winnunga Nimmityyjah, as an endorsed charitable organisation, has relied mainly on grants from the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH). OATSIH is located in the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aging. Other funds are raised through the operation of our medical clinic which in turn bulk bill Medicare.
Because of increasing costs and demands on our services, Winnunga Nimmityjah is now seeking funding from Business and the Private Sector. Your donations will assist Winnunga Nimmityjah greatly in our Vision of providing this charitable medical service to the community.
Winnunga Nimmityyjah as one of the few medical service in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) to bulk bills their clients. Further, Winnunga Nimmityjah is the major Aboriginal Community Controlled health care organisation in the ACT and region. There are approximately 5,000 people registered with Winnunga Nimmityyjah which includes a number of non-Aboriginal people, with new clients accessing the service regularly.
