Christians Against Poverty

 This organisation accepts volunteer labour

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) provides a free and workable solution to anyone who is facing hardship as a result of financial difficulties. CAP offers a debt management service, which includes budgeting and financial education. A major help for CAP clients is access to a budget account, into which regular amounts of money deposited by clients are automatically paid to their creditors. All of CAP's clients, who successfully complete the program, become debt-free. CAP recognises that staying on a budget is not easy and so offers a caseworker and support worker to help the person achieve the goals they work out together. CAP's aims are to show compassion to people in debt, fairness to creditors and integrity in all its dealings.
CAP undertakes community education on the causes of poverty, such as unemployment, the casualisation of the workforce, family illness, having to care for a dependent parent or child and family relationship breakdown.
CAP presents at seminars and conferences on issues such as consumer and credit card debt.
