Co.As.It. Italian Australian Welfare Association Inc.
CO.AS.IT. Italian Australian Welfare Association has kept pace with the changing needs of the Italian Community since its establishment in Brisbane in 1978. Its two primary aims are welfare and the maintenance and promotion of the Italian language and culture. Co.As.It.�s role is the identification of the community needs and the planning and implementation of appropriate programs and services for the Italians in Queensland. These are made possible by the Italian and Australian authorities which provide funds to deliver much needed services to the community.
Co.As.It. is run and managed by a Management Committee which is responsible for the overall administration, financing, staffing and policy decisions for the Association. The Management Committee is accountable to all Funding Government Bodies for the administration of its programs.
Trained community workers assess the needs of the community and plan the delivery of a variety of programs and services. These include programs for infant and pre-school children, support for families in crisis, advocacy, community education, counselling, support for frail elderly and handicapped people and their carers.
