Disability Sport and Recreation
Disability Sport and Recreation, formerly Wheelchair Sports Victoria, has been supporting Victorians with disability to take part in sport and recreation since 1962.
Our mission is to provide and promote positive health outcomes for Victorians with disability through sport and recreation.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle, catch up with friends and participate in their local community.
People with disability can engage in many different types of sport and recreational pursuits. For most sports, if the activity doesnt work for all abilities, it can usually be adapted to enable everyone to participate. There are sport and recreation activities available to suit all types of disabilities, level of ability and activity interests.
As you would have seen on television & various forms of media, competition through the medium of sport helps restore self-esteem, which in turn gives aim and purpose to our members' lives.
We are passionate about connecting people with opportunities, assisting individuals to locate activities most suitable to them.
