Blindness is not restricted to the aged.
Some people are born Vision Impaired or Blind; other lose their sight through illness or accident.
The Queensland Blind Association was established in 1939 and since then we have provided financial assistance, vital support, practical solutions, advice and support services to assist Blind and vision-impaired Queenslanders.
We are a not-for-profit organisation. The Association, receives no Government assistance, hence we totally self supporting.
Providing help can cover a broad range of services including assistance towards home ownership and maintenance and in the cases of hardship, assistance for the necessities of life.
The services of the Association assist each member to develop the maximun use of their physical, social and emotional capacities, so that each may live as normal a life within the general community. A sense of independence is essential to well being and a felling of 'belonging'.
