The Maddison Bartlett Charitable Trust
Shortly after the tragic Black Saturday bushfires on 7 February 2009, that resulted in so many deaths and widespread destruction of property, a trust was established to assist one of the young survivors, Maddison Bartlett.

At the time of the fires, Maddison was only 12 years old. Maddison suffered severe burns to almost 50% of her body and in addition to this has had to cope with the trauma and sadness of the death of her mother, father and younger sister in the fires.

After the fires, Maddison spent weeks on life support and months in the burns unit of the Royal Childrens Hospital. Maddison was released from hospital in July 2009 but still undergoes the long, slow and painful process of skin grafts and other necessary treatments. Maddison is now living with her grandfather who is responsible for her care and upbringing.
The trust has been established to provide Maddison with much needed and deserved benefits. Maddison will require considerable and on-going help and support to overcome the enormous challenges that she faces.
